In January, DH and I began to discuss bees... We really want to add them to our farm for pollination, and other great benefits. All of my girls have terrible allergies, and local honey is great for allergies. One simple teaspoon full twice a day can have an amazing impact on squashing those terrible allergies. Also, who doesn't want farm fresh honey readily available!!! It's a no brainier..
We have been scouting, face booking, and searching high and low for used box hives to no avail. You can order them online, but !WOW! the kits are expensive. We have a "local" store nearby, but even their prices were way too much for me. I am frugal! That is okay though, I kept researching and finally found a great and reputable place that has a GREAT price for unassembled hive kits! So AWESOME!
Also, we are getting 2 goats for milk! I am wanting dwarf Nigerians, but they are hard to find for a decent price down here. I am also looking at pygmy does. Here is the pic of one of the ladies I am negotiations to buy. We have to meet her first and find out more about her health and vaccinations.
Isn't she pretty. I am hoping by the end of the month to have both of our milking ladies. I prefer kids because they are easier to train to milk easily, but I can settle for an older nannie.
