Facebook is amazing! Last night I was browsing one of the FB groups I belong to. It was a pet swap site. There just happened to be a lady wanting to trade a pregnant goat for some chickens. Of course I yelled through the house for my husband. He had to think that someone had cut my arms off!! I was screaming like it was an emergency!!! We negotiated on the "price" to a trade for 10 chickens. I think it was a little high, but I really wanted a milk goat and it was pretty good. It's better than being out of pocket.
I am a little sad... We only had 24 chickens, but now we can order more and get what we want! I ordered the Rainbow layer pack from Mcmurray Hatchery, and the only eggs I get are BROWN! What the Crap!!!???!!! I digress.... We will be ordering americaunas, and cornish x rocks.
We are so blessed. She said it wasn't a pygmy goat (which is what we wanted), but she didn't know what kind it was. Well, we took the chance, knowing well that she could end up being a meat goat.
God is funny like this... She is a pygmy!!!! We are so lucky! Now, in addition to our puppies (we breed shih tzu's), chickens, and rabbits... We have our own milk source!!! At least we will after she kids.. she will give birth in about 2 months... With out further ado, here is Trixie:
